What is VAST?
VAST (Viewer Access Satellite Television) is satellite service for Australians who can’t receive digital TV services from transmission towers in their area. VAST provides access to a full range of digital TV and radio channels, with all ABC and SBS available in separate state feeds. Funded by the Australian government, Southern Cross Media and Imparja Television broadcast commercial television channels with programming from the 7,9 and 10 networks in standard definition and a variety of high definition channels. Local news content is available on a dedicated local news channel exclusive to VAST.
Who do I access VAST?
Viewers wishing to access the VAST service must be eligible through application, use VAST certified equipment and operate with a unique smart card. Once approved, you’ll need to purchase and install a VAST approved satellite set-top box (Satking, Altech UEC or HUMAX decoder) and a satellite dish of at least 65cm diameter.
